Model ID: DY320-2-R
This cylinder head variant features a precision-skimmed deck surface, specifically processed to address the critical needs of sealing and compression. Skimming, or resurfacing, is the process of machining the gasket mating face to restore perfect flatness, which is essential after the thermal warping often seen in high-mileage or overheated engines. We utilize advanced Polycrystalline Diamond (PCD) face mills on rigid CNC centers to remove material with micron-level accuracy, ensuring the surface is perfectly parallel to the camshaft axis.
The highlight of this process is the control over surface roughness (Ra). Unlike standard grinding, our PCD skimming creates a specific surface texture ideal for modern Multi-Layer Steel (MLS) gaskets, which require a smoother finish to seal effectively against high combustion pressures. While primarily a restoration of integrity to prevent coolant and oil leaks, this precise material removal also slightly reduces the combustion chamber volume. This results in a controlled increase in the static compression ratio, offering a tangible boost in thermal efficiency and torque without compromising the mechanical reliability of the assembly.
