The DY65 features a specialized Chemical Passivation (Conversion Coating) treatment, a critical surface protection process for aluminum components that must resist environmental degradation without altering their dimensions. Unlike physical coatings like paint or powder which add measurable thickness, passivation is a chemical reaction that modifies the surface of the aluminum itself. We immerse the cylinder head in a specialized solution that converts the unstable surface atoms into a thin, inert, and stable film. This barrier effectively "passive-ates" the metal, significantly inhibiting the formation of white rust (aluminum oxide) caused by humidity and salt exposure during shipping or long-term storage.
A key advantage of this process over anodizing is the preservation of electrical conductivity. Modern motorcycle engines rely on the cylinder head to act as an electrical ground for spark plugs and various engine management sensors. Our passivation process protects the metal while ensuring low contact resistance, guaranteeing reliable ignition and sensor data transmission. Furthermore, this treatment serves as an excellent primer base. If the end-user decides to paint the engine later, the passivated surface provides superior chemical adhesion properties compared to bare aluminum, preventing paint flaking and ensuring a long-lasting cosmetic finish.
