Motorcycle Cylinder Head Port Polishing

Model ID: DY298-1-F

The DY298-1-F features a specialized Internal Port Polishing treatment, a process designed to unlock the full flow potential of the cylinder head casting. While CNC machining can contour the shape of a port, it often leaves microscopic tool marks. To address this, Feiya employs an Abrasive Flow Machining (AFM) style process. This involves forcing a viscoelastic polymer media, heavily loaded with abrasive ceramic beads, through the intake and exhaust runners under pressure. As the "bead slurry" flows through the complex internal passages, it acts as a flexible file, uniformly polishing the walls and radiusing sharp edges that rigid tools cannot reach.

The result of this media polishing is a dramatic improvement in fluid dynamics. By smoothing the surface roughness (Ra) of the port walls, we significantly reduce the friction coefficient of the boundary layer—the air moving closest to the wall. This reduction in drag minimizes flow separation and turbulence, allowing the air-fuel mixture to maintain higher velocities as it enters the combustion chamber. Unlike a mirror polish (which can cause fuel dropout), our bead media creates a uniform, unidirectional finish that supports fuel atomization while maximizing CFM (Cubic Feet per Minute) airflow, translating directly to improved throttle response and peak horsepower.
