The constant vibration causes the media to rub gently against every surface of the casting, acting like thousands of tiny files working simultaneously.
The primary engineering advantage of this finish is comprehensive deburring. The tumbling action naturally focuses on corners and edges, effectively radiusing (rounding off) sharp flash from the casting process and burrs left behind by machining operations.
